The ultra-luxury chain based in Hong Kong, widely regarded as having the primere hotels in the world, opened their first US version on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Capturing the old world charm of the original 1928 Hong Kong version, LDA provided a full scope of lighting design services for the property. This included exterior facade, guestrooms, multiple restaurants, and all public spaces including the lobby, pool, ballroom and meeting spaces.
Architectural and interior decorative fixtures were restricted and specifically placed to create an ambience of drama through the contrast of light and shadow. As compared to typical hospitality spaces, which use more ambient ‘fill’ light, this design only illuminated specific locations and design elements.
