Microsoft’s first flagship store is situated amongst the world’s most iconic retailers along 5th Avenue in New York City. This historic retrofit project presented a tremendous challenge of delivering a strong visual presence to the storefront in a highly active urban environment.
Interior lighting was heavily relied upon to give the storefront this presence. Interior lighting from the main retail space on levels 1-2, LED wallwashers at the level-3 graphic panels, and an RGBW-LED grazer at level-4 all combine to create a bright, unified storefront.
Large sections of 4500K-LED backlit barrisol panels deliverl over 100fc of uniform general lighting. Recessed linear troughs integrate 3000K-LED downlights with building MEP systems. These products were highly customized specifically to meet the client’s strict performance criteria. A 4500K-LED handrail cove wraps around a feature stair and glass elevator at the back of the store.
