Los Angeles World Airports, operators of Los Angeles International Airport, or LAX, had determined that it was time for a facelift of the 25 year old airport complex. The new masterplan design included lighting upgrades for the terminal exteriors, a new signage program. The iconic, internally illuminated glass columns were conceptualized by Lighting Design Alliance, and the lighting design executed by Visual Terrain.
As a part of the masterplan, new lighting systems integrated with the signage program were designed for the dropoff and pickup areas at all of the terminals. New lighting was also provided for new signage located throughout the property, and of course, for the large illuminated pylons.
