The lighting complements the architecture, highlights the merchandise and provides a suitable backdrop to the fashion forward chain’s high end image.

The lighting unites Indonesian and British styles through architectural patterns, highly organized ceilings and expression of rich materials, reinforcing the upscale look and making Harvey Nichols one of the most successful luxury retailers in the world. At Harvey Nichols Jakarta, a 97,000 square foot upscale flagship department store, lighting is a critical aspect of the store’s overall character. Lighting interacts with the rich chocolate, white, and silver color palette creating dramatic effects comprised of high contrast ratios that highlight the merchandise in pools of light. Increasing the overall light levels (20 - 300 footcandles) and contrast ratios (up to 15:1) evokes the high-end atmosphere found throughout other Asian markets.
