The large scale campus was comprised of two buildings to accommodate Beats’ ever growing innovative research, design, and development. The goal was to create a 105,000 sqft creative and “sophisticated working environment for 650 employees, rather than the adolescent-like interiors that are prevalent in silicon valley”.
The lighting, much like the architectural design, is clean, modern, and sophisticated. The architectural lighting is kept clean and minimal while the decorative lighting elements create very contemporary, unique, yet playful spaces. Automatic daylight harvesting and automated controls also play an important part in making the project sustainable. The networked control system links both buildings together allows the facilities manager to monitor and control both buildings from a single location.
