  • Client: Autry Foundation
  • Architect: Levin & Associates Architects
  • Architect: House & Robertson Architects, Inc.

Set in Los Angeles’s Griffith Park, the Autry National Center for the American West is poised to shed its historical look of white stucco, red tiles and bell tower of the Spanish Colonial Mission. The renovation and expansion planned for the museum is to be in the modern style to renewing the museums civic presence by design architect Brenda Levin. The modern style is intended to house everyone’s story in the most respectful way with a building that no longer referenced one particular culture or time in the American West. This response to the spirit of the past with the needs of the present is matched with minimalist and simplistic lighting approach. The desire to combine and balance functional, aesthetic and energy efficiency is the primary lighting goal of this historic project.
